Most visits to Botswana will however start in the capital city Gaborone. Gaborone is Africa's fastest growing city with a variety of excellent yet affordable lodges. While in Botswana for business you will most likely want to visit lodges in other areas. Khama Rhino Sanctuary near Serowe and three hours drive from Gaborone is the place for affordable accommodation as an eco-tourism destination. If you want to visit Maun, the Okavango Delta or Chobe we recommend that you fly from Gaborone. If you prefer to drive from Gaborone to these place you will need an overnight stop. Their are numerous lodges to choose from. Woodlands self catering self-catering and camping is the best option for families near Francistown in Botswana. Woodlands is also known as Woodlands 4x4 but the camp is accessible with any vehicle. Further north and about 600 km from Gaborone is Nata. Here you can stay in one of Botswana's most affordable lodges. Nata Lodge is on the edge of the Makgadigadi Pans in Botswana and is the gateway to the Okavango Delta and Chobe. Gweta on the Makgadigadi Pans is about 700 km from Gaborone. There is a selection of affordable to very expensive lodges. Gweta Makgadigadi lodge and hotel offers a selection of lodges in this region.

If you drive from Gaborone it will take you two days to get to Maun. There are regular flights between Gaborone and Maun and we recommened that you rather fly to Maun. Maun is the gateway to the Okavango Delta. Temba Car Hire have Landcruisers and other vehicles available in Maun. Numerous lodges are available in and around the town. If you take an early flight you will be able to drive directly to your Okavango Delta Safari with your landcruiser. There are excellent lodges to choose from at Okavango Delta lodges. Although an Okavango Delta Safari remains the ultimate Botswana experience, it is costly and you need to leave from Maun as early as possible. If your flight from Gaborone arrives late you can overnight in Maun and select your lodge at MAUN ACCOMMODATION. We have a variety of lodges to suit all needs. Among them the new Thamlakane River Lodge near Maun in Botswana.

Chobe and Kasane is the other premium safari area in Botswana. To drive from Gaborone to Chobe will take you two days. Luckily there are daily flights between Gaborone and Kasane and Chobe. The Chobe National Park is home to more then 100 000 elephants. We offer a selection of excellent lodges in the area, simply click on Chobe lodges. If you prefer an affordable lodge Toro Lodge Chobe Botswana offers affordable accommodation near Chobe in Botswana. SENYANTI LODGE or SENYATI SAFARI LODGE near Kasane in Botswana is a perfect destination for families. While in Kasane you should try to Zimbabwe and the Victoria Falls. There are excellent lodges and activities available at VICTORIA FALLS ZIMBABWE. Victoria Falls is the most beautiful of the seven wonders of the world and easy to visit from Gaborone. There are daily flights from Gaborone to Kasane and from there it will take you just an hour to Victoria Falls.

If you have thought about a visit to the Kalahari you can drive south from Gaborone and then north to Kang. Kang is about 4 hours drive from Gaborone. The preferred lodge in Kang is Kang Ultra Lodge or better known as Kang Ultra Stop along the Central Kgalagadi Highway between Gaborone and Ghanzi in Kang, Botswana. Ghanzi is the gateway to the Kalahari and the cattle area of Botswana. It is about seven hours drive from Gaborone and offers a selection of fine lodges. Ghanzi accommodation lodge and hotel reservations will provide all information and online booking reservations in and around Ghanzi. If you prefer a hotel in Ghanzi and not a lodge, the Kalahari Arms Hotel will be your choice. This traditionally rich hotel in Ghanzi Botswana is the automatic choice for business people and those in search of the traditional Botswana. If you want to see game and prefer to stay in a lodge, or if you want to camp, Thakadu Lodge is on a safari farm near Ghanzi.

From Ghanzi you can easily reach Shakawe and the western panhandle of the Okavango Delta. There are no flights from Gaborone to Shakawe and the drive from Gaborone will take you about three days. Once you are in Shakawe you will have a selection of lodges to choose from at Shakawe accommodation and lodges. Our preferred lodge near Shakawe is Drotsky Cabins which is a paradise for birdwatching and fishing.

Namibia is Botswana's western and northern neighbour. You can do your Namibia bookings with us. If you decide to fly from Gaborone you will land in the capital of Windhoek which is just more than an hours flight from Gaborone. You might want to drive from Gaborone and if you plan to visit the southern part of Namibia, we recommend that you overnight in Upington in South Africa. Do your Upington accommodation online. We offer a selection of the best lodges in Upington based on value for money. Allow 6 hours to drive from Gaborone. Our preferred lodge is the Kalahari Sun River Lodge a boutique hotel in Upington. If you prefer self-catering lodges Upington Country Lodge offers excellent self-catering accommodation in Upington. The Kalahari Monate Lodge is best for self-catering or camping just 10 km from Upington on the Spitskop Nature Reserve. If you prefer to drive from Gaborone you will most likely spend your first night in Namibia in Grunau. Grunau Lodge Namibia is the perfect overnight stop other accommodation includes Grunau Country House bed and breakfast accommodaion in the old Grunau Hotel in Grunua Namibia and Orange River Lodge self-catering accommodation in Noordoewer near the South African border.

Your drive from Gaborone to Swakopmund will take you through two very different deserts, the Kalahari Desert and the very dry Namib Desert. In the Namib Desert we recommened that you overnight near Sesriem or Sossusvlei. Sossusvlei Lodge is a luxury lodge at Sesriem at the entrance to Sossusvlei and the best lodge in the Sossusvlei Area. Sossusvlei Desert Lodge offers self-catering accommodation near Sesriem, near Sossusvlei in Namibia. Further south is Caňon Lodge at the Fishriver canyon in the south of Namibia.

The coastal town of Swakopmund will most likely be your next stop. If you prefer to fly you can fly from Gaborone to Windhoek and on to Walvis Bay. The drive from Gaborone to Windhoek will take you at least three days. Once in Swakopmund there are a few very good lodges to choose from. Swakopmund Accommodation is the place where you can book Swakopmund lodges and other accommodation online such as Alte Brucke self-catering accommodation or the The Stiltz very special luxury accommodation in Swakopmund Namibia. Cape Cross Lodge at the Cape Cross seal colony north of Hentiesbay along the skeleton Coast of Namibia.

To the north east of Swakopmund is an area called Damaraland. This is desert country and very far from Gaborone. We offer a selection of lodges DAMARALAND such as Vingkerlip Lodge, Palmwag and Ugab Terrace Lodge.

Etosha National Park is north of Damaraland and Namibia's famous National Park. You can fly from Gaborone to Windhoek and then hire a car to visit Etosha Pans. In the very far north of Nambia is the Caprivi Strip. If you want to visit this area you will need to drive from Gaborone, or alternatively you can fly from Gaborone to Kasane, and then drive to the Caprivi. There are lodges such as the luxury lodges Kwando Camp and Mazambala Island Lodge which is an affordable lodge on an island in the Kwando rIver in the Caprivi National Park. Our preferred lodge for families in the Caprivi is 10 hours drive from Gaborone - Ngepi Camp is a perfect family destination in the Caprivi along the Kavango River, also known as the panhandle of the Okavango River. Further to the west and even further from Gaborone is Kaisosi River Lodge near Rundu.

South Africa is the economic powerhouse in Africa. You will most likely fly from South Africa to Gaborone. While in South Africa you can just as well visit some of the numerous lodges in this beautiful country. Amazian Mountain River Lodge Underberg Drakensberg is very different to the city of Gaborone and also too far to drive. We recommend that you fly from Gaborone via Johannesburg to Durban and then drive to the Drakensberg mountains. At Amazian Mountain River Lodge every night turns out to be a honeymoon.

Perhaps you want to experience some different cultures after your visit to Gaborone. The former Transkei might be the place for you. We offer excellent lodges in Mthatha such as the Umtata Savoy Hotel. You will most likely fly from Gaborone to Mthatha via Johannesburg. Once you are in the Transkei which is now part of the Eastern Cape of South Africa, you will most certainly want to visit some of the lodges along the Transkei Wildcoast. At Port St Johns N'taba River Lodge and Umngazi River Lodge offers four star accommodation. Further south are lodges such as the family lodge, Kobs Inn Hotel which is indeed a romantic destination. Mazeppa Bay Hotel and the self-catering lodge Hole-in-the-Wall Hotel. To return to Gaborone from here you will need to fly via Mthatha and Johannesburg to Sir Seretse Khama airport near Gaborone.

Botswana is not the only desert country in Southern Africa. Perhaps you want to drive from Gaborone via Kimberley to Britstown in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa. The roads are good but Gaborone and Britstown are extremely far apart from each other. In Britstown you will have two lodges to choose from. In the main street of Britstown Britstown Transkaroo Lodge is the best accommodation by far in Britstown. If you want to stay on a farm to wind down after your business in Gaborone the Britstown Kambro Lodge 20 km north of Britstown in the Northern Cape Province of South Africa might be the place for you.

Colesberg is another Northern Cape town which is within a days drive from Gaborone. There are a selection of lodges available in Colesberg such as Merino Inn Motel. The Merino Inn is just oudside Colesberg on the N1. This is a beautiful three star lodge and the perfect stopover between Gaborone and the Eastern Cape. Gables Inn Lodge Colesberg offers self-catering accommodation in the town. For those who are driving from Gaborone to Cape Town via Colesberg, Hanover in South Africa might be the place to overnight. Temba can offer accommodation in two lodges in Hanover, namely Hanover Inn which offers very basic accommodation. The Hanover Lodge Bed and Breakfast is more upmarket.

Not too many people travel from Gaborone in Botswana to the Freestate in South Africa. If you have business in the capital city of Bloemfontein you will need to fly from Gaborone via Johannesburg to Bloemfontein. In Bloemfontein you can overnight at either Sangiro Lodge Bloemfontein or in Bains Game Lodge Bloemfontein. If you visit Gaborone on diamond business the chance is excellent that you would like to visit the mining town of Koffiefontein in the Freestate. In Koffiefontein the lodge that you we would recommend is Hakuna Matata Guesthouse.

Temba is best known for its excellent accommodation but our youth tours to Europe and the Kalahari Vasbyt are also very popular. Alhough we visit Botswana on the Kalahari Vasbyt we never visit Gaborone. We previously used KLM. Klm is the Netherlands national airline.
